September 22, 2021
Prairie South School Division will recognize Thursday, September 30, as the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.
During school on September 30, our students and staff will participate in various activities during the school day to recognize Truth and Reconciliation Day to honour survivors, their families, and communities. It is important that our schools take time to commemorate the history and legacy of residential schools as it is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
All our schools will encourage wearing orange this day and participate in Orange Shirt Day. Schools will also participate in a moment of silence and take time to reflect on residential schools. In all school division facilities, flags will be flown at half-mast. Schools will also host their Truth and Reconciliation Day activities which will be shared with families directly.
We want to encourage all Prairie South students, staff, and families to honour Truth and Reconciliation Day, whether through personal reflection, education, and awareness activities, or participating in Orange Shirt Day or other events in your communities.
